What makes Flic Film lab different from other labs?
We are one of the only labs in Canada to blend and use our own chemistry for film development. Meaning that when you send us your film, we give that film a fresh batch of chemicals. We are running our lab the same way we've been running our warehouse for the last 4 years; quick, efficient and affordable.
What are your hours of operation?
Our lab is in operation Monday to Thursday 8-4:30.
Been a few weeks and still don't have your scans?
If you've waited longer than 3 weeks for your scans and still haven't recieved them:
1. Please check your spam folder in your email. Emails don't always go where you want them to, so it's best to check here first and mark us as "Not Spam"
2. Send us an email to admin@flicfilmlab.ca and we'll update you on the progess of your film/scans
How do I tell what development process my film needs?
Check on the canister of your film and look for the type of process it needs. The majority of film canisters will say one of the following:
C-41 (Colour), B&W (Black and White), E6 (Slide) or ECN-2 (Cinema)
How does dropping off my film work and how do I pay?
Dropping off at Flic Film Lab:
Our Lab building has a drop box located at the front with envelopes for you to fill out. Put down your information and seal the envelope with your film inside. Once we receive it, we'll send an invoice to the email you provide to confirm all the details. When the Invoice is paid via E-Transfer to FlicFilminc@gmail.com, we'll get to work on your order!
Drop off Locations:
For drop off locations (Excluding Flic Film Lab) you will be given a envelope to fill out with your film services and contact info. Payment will be taken at the drop-off location. Lab pick-ups happen once per week. When we receive your film, development and scanning will begin right away. If you requested to have your negatives picked up, they will be available the following week.
Heritage Pointe:
For drop off at Heritage Pointe, you'll be given a envelope to fill out with your film services and contact info. Payment will be taken ONLINE and please send a message to 825-935-3546 or email admin@flicfilmlab.ca so we know to pick up your film. Pick-ups happen once per week. When we receive your film, development and scanning will begin right away. Negatives will not be returned to this location and will need to be mailed back.
What day is best to drop-off my film?
Our courier comes once a week on Tuesdays to pick up film from our drop off locations. For the quickest turnaround times, it would be best to drop off your film on Monday's.
How long does it take to complete my film order?
For any of the drop-off locations, orders will take 1 to 2 weeks to be completed as our pick-up/drop-off day is Tuesday.
For mail-in and drop-off at the lab, orders will be completed within 1 week
How much does it cost to develop and/or scan my film?

What do you do with the negatives after they're developed and scanned?
When Dropping off your film, you have 3 options for your negatives:
1. Cut and Sleeved into one negative file holder ($1)
2. Uncut into a plastic tube ($2)
3. Recycled (free)
I've already developed my film, can I just get my negatives scanned?
Yes you can. Only getting your film scanned is $12
After scanning, are my photos edited?
No we try to give you a flat image so you can edit your negatives to your liking while still preserving as much information as possible in the photo. As such, you may see a slight green tint which is normal for flat images.
Do you develop disposable camera film?
Yes we develop and scan disposable film camera's for $27.00
Does your lab push or pull film?
We push and pull black &white film at $3 per stop.
We only push C-41 or ECN-2 ($3 per stop).
We do not pull C-41 or ECN-2 film as it negatively impacts the image quality due to increased grain and color shifts.
We do not push or pull slide film.
How are my photos scanned?
35mm and 120 Negatives are scanned using a Noritsu HS-1800. All images will be in the .JPEG file format. and accessable through the dropbox link that's sent to your email once your scans are available.
How much does it cost to mail in my film?
The customer is responsible for all postage when mailing in their film. We recommend that you send a sizeable amount of film so you save on postage. Negatives will be mailed back if requested at the cost of $16
How are my film scans sent to me?
Once your film is scanned you will receive a email for a drobox which will include all the scans of your photos. Make sure to check your spam and junk folder. This dropbox will only be available for a limited time so make sure to download your photos within 2 weeks of recieving the email.
Do you offer prints?
Yes. As of right now, we offer 4x6 prints in lustre and glossy. As well as 8x10 prints in lustre. We hope to carry more types and sizes in the future.
Do you develop expired film?
Yes! Expired film requires additional stops at $3 per stop. 1 stop of push is required for every decade the film is expired.
Do you cross process film?
We do not cross process any film because the results from cross processing are inconsistent.
What happens if my film roll is blank?
In the instance that your film roll doesn't contain any images and you paid for scans. We will issue a voucher for future processing. We do not offer this voucher for development only since chemistry was used to process your film..
Do you have a rush/express service?
We do not offer a rush service as there's no need for one. For our drop off locations we pick up and drop off film once per week giving us a 1 week turnaround time (keep in mind that pick ups and drop off are Tuesdays so there may be a delay depending on the day you drop it off).
For mail in orders or drop-off at the Lab, once we receive your invoice payment, it takes us 1 business day to develop, scan and ship your film
What is the size/resolution of my scans?
For default scans, resolution and file size are 72dpi:
35mm: 3130 x 2075px (5MB)
120: 3322 x 2433px (5MB)
Half-frame: 1565 x 2075px (5MB)
Panoramic: 9383 x 3124 (5MB)
Sprocket: 2085 x 3130 (5MB)
For high res scans, resolution and file size are:
35mm: 6774 x 4492px (20MB)
120: 4824 x 3533px (20MB)
Can I select Dev Only and then TIFF as my scans?
No you can't select Dev only and then TIFF scans as TIFF scans are an additional $5 on top of the $12 scanning price. If these are selected, we'll ask for the additional $12 before starting your order.
What films do you develop?
We currently develop 35mm film, 120 film, 110 film, 220 film, 620 film, 126 film, 127 film, 828 film, 4x5 film and APS film (C-41/ Color only and unable to push process)
All of these films (Excluding 220 which is double) have the same development cost.
